Last night's Fall Festival was our 2nd virtual COFA event since COVID19 moved us off campus and it was sensational. If you were one of the almost 200 that joined us on Zoom you know what I'm talking about. The directors and council conceived of and executed this event that's been a COFA tradition for the last 6 years. Each pathway showcased the talent and passion that embodies who we are as artists and performers at Sunny Hills. We also got a chance after so much distancing to connect as a COFA family and celebrate each other. The thing I took away is all the great positivity and mutual support that's so needed in these difficult times--it was such a great vibe. If you get a chance share a thank you with those that made it possible: COFA Council and Event Directors, our wonderful COFA teachers, our administration and your parents who I know support you.
If you missed it or just want to re-live the moment here's the link to the Zoom recording:
All Lancers are invited to participate in our 2020 Virtual Fall Festival! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity--it's not every day you find yourself in the midst of a pandemic, after all. The Fall Festival team has done the best that we could to make sure that all attendees can still have fun, all while staying safe at home and socially distancing. Our event schedule is as follows:
COFA Trivia Kahoot - Get to know our Conservatory of the Fine Arts through a Kahoot game. The first place winner takes home a gift card as a prize!
Dance - Mrs. Volen and the dance team have been hard at work these past weeks and will be providing us with a completely virtual performance, all choreographed and organized online.
Dance Interview - An exclusive interview with a member of the dance team will take place after the performance! Come tune in and get an inside scoop of what the team has been up to and how they have been cooperating despite being stuck behind Chromebook screens.
Mr. Wall's Art Showcase - Mr. Wall's talented artists will be showcasing their work in a virtual gallery.
Band - The Sunny Hills Band will be performing several songs for us virtually. I can't help but wonder how their virtual group practice sounds live!
Live Interview - Band member TBA
Mrs. Mathen's Art Showcase - Mrs. Mathen and her group of promising artists will also be showcasing their best work in a gallery.
Quick Draw - It's not an art festival without an art contest! Your goal is to illustrate something according to our chosen theme within the 2 minute time frame. Our judges will select the best drawings, and our winners will receive a gift card.
Theater - Our thespians group will also be performing for us virtually. Don't miss the chance to watch a live virtual play from our talented actors!
Mrs. Oh's Art Showcase - Our final Visual Art showcase will be from Mrs. Oh's art class. They'll end it with a bang for sure!
Breakout Rooms: Scribbl.io - Every distance learning student's worst fear--but with a fun twist! We will be playing Scribbl.io, a guessing game that involves drawing! You will be given further instruction before the game. And don't worry--each breakout room will be stationed with a COFA team member to make sure that things don't get as awkward as they did in your math class!
Choir - Our choir will be performing several songs for us via a pre-recorded video. No one can just pretend to sing now!
Mr. Goulding - Mr. Goulding's photography students have had yet to shine! Their best photos will be showcased in a virtual gallery
Breakout Rooms: Among Us: Yes, even the hit game that's been all over social media as of late has made it into a school festival! You will once again be put into a breakout room to play a round of Among Us. Which one of you will be the imposter?
Pumpkin Carving Contest - We end our festival with a fall classic--a pumpkin carving contest! Unfortunately, due to our circumstances, this one will also be virtual. To submit your lovely carved pumpkins, first take a photo of the pumpkin. Make sure that either you or a piece of paper with your name on it is present in the photo, or else your submission will not count! You can then either post it on Instagram with the hashtag #pumpkincarvingCOFA or post it on your story and tag @cofashhs! Our winners will receive a gift card. Happy carving!
Thank you for reading, Lancers! We hope to see you at the Fall Festival on Friday the 23rd, 6 pm. One final note--feel free to come in costume! Don't be bashful, Halloween can never be too early! Plus, who knows? Maybe our costumed friends will get a treat...
