Excited For COFA! Dear Brian Your COFA teachers met this last Friday. We are happy to report 2 new additions to our program. Melissa Rex is joining us as the new Vocal Program Director and Vivian Oh will be teaching Drawing and Painting in the visual arts pathway. Dianna Coleman will be a student-teacher in the visual arts pathway. It has been a very interesting 2019-2020 to say the least. Through all of it, we celebrated our 10th year as a Conservatory at Sunny Hills representing and supporting the arts and all of the students that have developed and shared their talents, abilities, and hard work in artistic expression. We have over 850 members in our database--but I think there are a lot of new freshmen that don't know about what we have to offer. Please help us spread the word--especially to the class of 2024.and how to join (go to cofasunnyhills.net and use the "sign-up" button). I hope you've had a wonderful summer and are ready to get this year started strong. Our first COFA Council meeting will be in 1 week from today, Monday, August 17th at 3:15 pm on Zoom. Use this Zoom link to attend. We said goodbye to some exceptional COFA leaders that graduated last year, especially our wonderful and first-ever COFA Student Director, Alia Scroggins. I'm excited to present this year's Student Director, Malini Pandey. Malini's Message: Hi Lancers! Welcome back to another school year. I am so excited to be serving as your COFA president this year! I know this year is anything but ordinary, but we are going to make the best of it. We are still planning on having all of our events, whether that be virtually or in person. Speaking of which, this year more than ever we need your help on the council. COFA Council is the committee that plans all COFA events. You would be getting great experience in organization, event planning, and communication. Not only would you learn all these skills, but you will also be able to meet new people and have great high school experiences. The link to apply is here. Applications are due on the 29th of August. This second link will open a document with descriptions of the positions. This year we will be implementing a new event tracking system. As you all know it is required to attend events in order to receive your laureate and laureate with distinction awards Normally. students began tracking their events from their freshman year to their senior year on their own. This year we wanted students to be able to track their events starting their freshmen year and sophomores, juniors, and seniors can start using it too. We are implementing a new form that will be available in our google classroom as an assignment. The class join code is: hvqeg32. Please be sure to join in order to have access to that event tracking log and get timely notifications about what's going on. We are excited about this year! Even though it may not be what we were expecting, I have high hopes that we will all pull through and make the best of it. You can do it! If you need anything at all feel free to reach out :) Malini Pandey, COFA Student Director 600021345@fjuhsd.org ____________________________________________________________ Calligraphy Sessions are on hold right now but if you are interested let me know.
